NXT Results and review Jan. 22, 2020

NXT last night featured a NXT  North American Championship match between Roderick Strong and Keith Lee,  semifinals of the Dusty Rhodes tag team classic.

1. Grizzled Young Veterans ((Zack Gibson & James Drake)  defeated Undisputed Era  ( Kyle O' Reilly & Bobby Fish)

This was a great match. There are so many things that these two teams do that just make their matches more interesting and exciting to watch. This was amazing. During the match when it looks like Undisputed Era is looking to finish the match, Imperium music hits. They were on that stage above the commentary. Undisputed Era gets distracted and Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) defeat Undisputed Era ( Kyle O' Reilly & Bobby Fish).

Grade- B+

2. Toni Storm defeated IO Shirai by DQ

This was also a rematch to their clash at Evolution 2018 where Toni Storm defeated IO Shirai to win the 2nd Annual Mae Young Classic. This was a good match. During the match Bianca Belair attacked Toni Storm to cause the disqualification. She then took out IO Shirai. Rhea Ripley comes out to make the save she takes out Bianca Belair and then IO shirai takes out Rhea Ripley with a springboard dropkick. And then to the outside takes out Ripley again. Then Toni Storm with a dive to the outside to IO Shirai. She then holds the NXT Womens Championship in her hand.

Grade- B+

IO Shirai is protected. Toni Storm is protected. Everyone is protected.

They show Ilja Dragunov promo for Finn Bálor. I loved this promo. He is just so amazing and charismatic.

3. Finn Bálor defeated Joaquin Wilde

This was a squash. But it served a purpose. Finn Bálor just mauling down Joaquin Wilde. Shotgun dropkick, coup de grace and 1916 and 123 Finn Bálor wins.

Grade- B

They show a video package for Tegan Nox vs Dakota. This match is gonna happen next week.

4. Shayna Baszler defeated Shotzi Blackheart 

This was a really good match. This match also played the story of the last week's Battle Royal. I loved that. Shayna Baszler made Shotzi Blackheart tap out with Kirafuda Clutch.

Grade- B

5. Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne (Broserweights) defeated Imperium (Fabian Achner & Marcel Barthel)

For me this was the match of the night. This was fantastic, awesome and everything you want in a tag team wrestling. Just go and watch it. Broserweights have really surprised me as a tag team. Kinda of shocked too that Imperium lost clean. But this was amazing. 

After the match Zack Gibson & James Drake comes out and they cut a promo on Pete Dunne on how he held them back in NXTUK. Matt Riddle gets on a mic and says he didn't understand what Zack Gibson was saying (Lmao) and saya he was day dreaming. 

Grade- A+

I am really excited for their match next week. Its gonna be a banger.

6. Keith Lee defeated Roderick Strong to become the New NXT North American champion 

The moment has come when Kieth Lee holds the gold. This was a really feel good moment, Keith Lee with a Championship. Obviously Undisputed Era tried to stop and distract Keith Lee from winning the North American Championship. But in the end Keith Lee with his finisher. And everyone BASKS IN HIS GLORY! Keith Lee the new NXT North American Champion. 

Grade- A

I am really excited for whats to come from Keith Lee as NXT North American Champion.

After the match Imperium comes out. T he brawl starts between Undisputed Era and Imperium. Adam cole with a superkick and then Walter ends Adam Cole with a CHOP.

They brawl out and NXT goes off-air.

Overall Grade- A

This was a really great episode of NXT heading into NXT vs NXTUK Worlds Collide in the Royal Rumble weekend. I am really excited for Worlds Collide. I don't think this like a brand supremacy thing. Its more like a dream matches scenario. And there is gonna be a worlds collide preview and prediction dropping in this week.
